The fountain in the middle,
A small but simple well.
Is placed for just one purpose,
This purpose I will tell.
We gather dimes and nickels here,
It only takes a few.
And one by one the pennies add,
‘Til we can see they grew.
You see this little fountain,
Is here for those in need.
To help our fellow soldiers,
Who fought so we’d be free.
Each nickel, dime, or penny,
We spend on their behalf,
To help the hurt or injured,
Or families of those who passed.
So next time that you’re passing,
Please stop to bow your head,
And thank the Lord Almighty,
For all the gifts we have.
And don’t forget to drop a coin,
To thank a soldier too.
For freedom friend, it isn’t free,
These soldiers fought for you.
